News and Things that Might Help

I welcome you to discover, explore, question and glean from this tenderly gathered resource page. I wrote much of what you will find here, not because I am writer but because I’m a soul revealer. I wrote so people who want to remember their truth would know they were right to remember.

I hope it will help and make you think along this journey of becoming more YOU. It’s brave to read and recognize your own truth. I wrote these articles for a magazine I co-created called choice. It was developed for the coaching industry. Sometimes we just know when it’s time to create (or destroy). Sometimes we need our dream world to nudge us along. Here’s a short story of how I came to create the world’s only coaching magazine way back when.

In November of 2000 I had a dream. The TV show The Sopranos was all the rage. I must have watched it the night I had this dream. I was bathing in a large alabaster tub when a gaggle of men burst in with machine guns and were about to kill me. Before they could shoot I said, “No! I have to start a coaching magazine.”

I quickly studied the world of print magazines, joined forces with two fellow coaches, Garry and Maureen, and we started choice Magazine. I wanted choice to exist for three reasons: to write about spirituality in coaching (something that had yet to done on a wide scale), to show the business world how coaching could serve them, and lastly, I wanted a place where we could galvanize the coaching community. Where they could gather to hear the many forms coaching was taking and for new skills and technologies to be shared.

I fashioned a column in the magazine called “The Soul of Coaching” and the rest is history. Many of these articles here are from that column in choice and the rest are from resources I know you’ll find useful in your journey.

ABUNDANT EXPECTATIONS | We create a spiritual life by replacing doubt with trust. PATIENCE | The Path of Mindfulness and Commitment Why is it so difficult to hold steadfast to a commitment–to the very thing we desire? THE ACTS OF SELF-NAMING AND CLAIMING | As a trainer of coaches, I often teach students to move beyond the skill of coaching into the skill of self-trusting. TRUST AND THE PIPE CARRIER | “Spiritual leadership engages me in my business dealings and my ceremonial life. In the traditional native community I am one of many pipe carriers. This responsibility is a privilege, and has taught me that being responsible to one’s truth has its own rewards.

I was given a pipe as part of my first Vision Quest, a four-day solo experience where one sits or stands in one spot in prayer and communication with the Creator. Many truths were revealed to me, including that I was to leave my native circle. I was told that love was the only teacher I would need and that my teacher, although wise, lived on the underbelly of anger…
